Final Exam 1.The art criticism process is a process to show how art work is criticized. There are four steps of the process. The first step is describing the art work.I feel as this step is very necessary due to the fact nobody will know what the art piece is without an explanation for it.While describing the first step you may list what images you see,What different types of media are used and what are different color schemes. The second step of the process is to analyze the artwork.Analyzing the art work explains the different principles of the piece for example the value, lines, shapes and different structures used in the piece. The third step is interpret the artwork.I feel as if this step is very important because art pieces can have a story behind them and without this step nobody will know. The last step is to judge the artwork,In art people may have different opinions and styles of art that they do and do not like.Judgement and advice in art may give an artist motivation. 2.The piece I chose to critique is my linocut. In my Linocut i chose to do a taco.It is shaped as a hard taco and it shows different elements in the design such as the detail in the shell and the “meat” on it. The design elements I mostly used is lines because I had to make sure there was a lot of details to show emphasis and value on the piece. For the taco I don't really feel that there is a mood based on the piece but I chose a taco because that is my favorite food! I feel that it could have been a more successful piece if I added more details and did a background for the linocut. Three questions I chose: Regardless of whether a project was successful or not, describe the one where you learned, grew, or developed the most from? Please explain. I chose my charcoal piece because it was not very successful but i feel i learned a lot from it because it really taught me how to use different shades of one color to show value. I really enjoyed this piece because it was based on a sign that is in my room. After this piece i really learned different techniques. Also this was one of the first pieces we did in this class and I feel that this specific one showed me that patience is one of the most important things in art because if you take your time on it,it will eventually come out how you want it.I am very happy with how I grew in art this semester and I am hoping to grow in more art classes.
Illustration Fridays & sketchbook homework assignments have been completed almost every week this semester, do you feel this assignment helped you brainstorm for main projects or helped your skill levels in any way? Why, or why not? This semester we have done many illustration fridays and sketchbook homework assignments that have helped me grow as an artist. The illustration friday that I feel that helped me mindstorm projects is the one based on the word brain.I know this may seem as a very common answer but it did help me grow as an artist. The illustration friday not only helps in a drawing way it also helps mentally because it really shows emphasis on how artists should think about there pieces.Using the word brain made me realize all pieces should have some meaning to it like something that you look up to,something in your past or honestly anything at all. I used this illustration friday as an inspiration to become better in showing my feelings in my art pieces.

Pros:I feel that this project went well because it took me a lot of time to do.My favorite type of art to do is using just pencils.I feel that i showed value and it came out as good as possible.
Cons: The cons of this piece was that I had to have a lot of patience. In order for this piece to come out as successful as possible I really needed to take my time in order for it to come out successful. Process: The process of this piece wasn't a very hard process at all.I was inspired to do this piece because it is my favorite animal and i love to draw things i enjoy looking at.Before i started the actual piece I did practice how to draw the different structures of the face such as the eyes, nose, whiskers and mouth.I also had to make sure I used different shades of pencil to show value. 1.My portrait piece was of my aunt.My aunts name is Angela and she is only 23 years old and she has a been a police officer for the department of NYPD for about a year and a half now.I chose her because she is not only my favorite but she is a great ro model.
2.My portrait was a mixed media piece using acrylic paint, colored pencils, tissue paper, etc. 3. The process of making this mixed media piece was not a difficult process.Due to the fact that i printed a picture of her in her uniform it really shows what the theme of the piece was and if you haven't already seen it is based on her being a police officer. 4.I find my piece successful due to the fact that there is a lot of different medias on it.If i coulf change one thing about the piece it would be actually drawing the picture of her instead of printing the 1.My piece is planned to be designed as a dice.As I continue to design the piece i am going to shape circles of clay to represent the circles on the dice.Continuing the piece i am going to make sure it does not dry out.
2. Throughout this piece the only thing that I have found challenging is making sure my class is evenly cut into the squares to create the box like figure. 3.Even though i have had some trouble i found that making my piece smooth and making sure that my piece stays together is something that i have done successfully. 4.Since my pieces are all evenly cut and I made sure to stick them together using the slip.I made sure that my lid locks into my piece and that it is smooth. After my piece was all put together i made the half circles and made the design of the dice on the clay.I think my project will come out successful due to the fact that i have tried to make it even and for it to all stay together Raphael is an Italian painter that I am very inspired by. I am very inspired by him because I enjoy painting and he had such good art work in Italy. I am Italian so I find that is paintings are interesting to me. He was born on April 6,1483 and died on April 6,1520. He was admired for his work for its form, composition and visual achievement.
His paintings catch my eye due to the fact that you can tell there is a lot of hard work put into every piece that he does. Its not only that he paints with hard work but you can tell he puts a lot of emphasis in his detailed paintings.Although he was an artist in the renaissance i feel that his art work if very eye catching. Due to the fact that he is an older artist he does not have a website. My piece shows the theme of line using the structure in the taco. I used lines around to show the shape and in the "shell" of the taco i showed emphasis in texture using line.
Honestly I feel like my piece was pretty successful but I know I could do a lot better in my artwork. I feel that I made the mistake of not taking my time. Although this is not my favorite piece I have done this semester I do feel it is very good.I chose the taco because it is my favorite food and i feel if i design something i'm interested in i will do better. This art piece was very fun to learn and create!! 1.From these warm ups I have learned a lot about value, balance of colors and how to show structure in an art piece.
2. I feel like the one that will help me the most is the Tint/Shade/Tone warm up because when painting you need to show balance in colors especially in my acrylic painting. 3. The one that I learned from the most is was the textures because I never knew you can use materials to show texture in an art piece 4. To make brown you mix a primary color with its complementary color. For example you can mix Blue and Orange or Red and Green. 5. To tone down any color you can add as much of white paint or any type of materials you are using and it should tone it down. 1. The sphere warm up was the most helpful because it shows the details of drawing with elements of structure and how to show details in a drawing or in any art piece you are planning to do.
2. Composition is a work of literature music and art. Value is relatively the the lightness or the darkness of a color in an art piece. 3. The pros of the pencil drawing is that you can simply erase the pencil. The charcoal piece was a really good way to show value and the pen piece was a good way to show line structure. The cons of the charcoal drawing was that it can get messy. The pen drawing was a little bit hard to complete due to the fact that u cant erase and lastly with the pencil drawing i had trouble showing value in the structure of the hands in the handcuffs. Even though there was cons I am still very confident with my drawings because I know I will grow as an artist.
